EXPOSURE RESPONSE PREVENTION FOR OCD
What is Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental health disorder that occurs when a person gets caught in a cycle of obsessions and compulsions. Obsessions are unwanted, intrusive thoughts, images, or urges that trigger intensely distressing feelings. Compulsions are behaviors an individual engages in to attempt to get rid of the obsessions and/or decrease distress.
I have been trained and certified by top OCD experts and researchers who have designed some of the world's leading OCD treatment programs through NOCD.
What is Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
ERP therapy is a behavioral therapy that gradually exposes people to situations designed to provoke a person's obsessions in a safe environment. It is a fundamentally proven Evidence based practice technique in reducing OCD and is considered the “Gold standard” form of therapy for this diagnosis.
This approach is centered around education about OCD and we provide support and guidance in sessions with the goal of meeting initially as frequently as possible and reducing sessions as improvements and progress is made.
